Taking action

The government should be held accountable for their promise to build the mercury treatment centre for the Grassy Narrows community. Specifically, Jane Phillpot, Federal Minister of Indigenous Services, should be held accountable to follow through with her promise to build this $4.5 million facility. The government’s promise has been on-hold for nearly 3 years, and political pressure must be put on the government to act on this issue.

I believe that a petition is a great way to show the government that Canadian citizens are fighting for the human right of Indigenous peoples. Not only will the petition spread awareness, but it will also show the government the importance of medical treatment and healthcare infrastructure on Indigenous reserves, on the way to reconciliation.

Below is the petition that has been created to encourage the government to fund the mercury treatment centre that was promised, by gaining signatures.
